Offered in this lot is an Antique Winchester Midget Hand Trap, circa 1919-1924, patent date June 10, 1919. This is a compact, mechanical clay-target thrower patented in 1919 and introduced to the public in 1920. It was designed specifically for youth and beginners to practice trapshooting without needing a full-sized ground installation. Rather than being sold exclusively as a standalone item, the Midget Hand Trap served as a core component of the highly celebrated Winchester Junior Trapshooting Outfit launched in 1920. The trap operates on a spring-tension pivot system attached to a wooden handle. A single operator swings the device to break a tension threshold, mechanically launching the small clay pigeon into the air. The Midget Hand Trap is in amazingly well preserved condition, springs have original tension, wear visible on wood handle consistent with age and normal use, surface oxidation exhibited on metal components. Measures 1.625"W x 10.75"L x 1"D, weight is 6oz.
