Featured in this lot is this tacked ermine and parfleche war lance by Non-enrolled Apache Nation artist Carl Pierce circa 20th Century. Provenance: Made by Chippewa / Cree artists, Leonard & Laurie Many Trails in the 20th century, from the Many Trails Collection at the former Indian Nation Trading Post in Livingston, Montana. The war lance features a wonderfully and professionally crafted carved wooden haft, Parfleche, Ermine, and trade seed bead construction that shows turkey feather dangles. The ermine hide is dangled from under the spear point where rabbit fur is wrapped and two segments of Parfleche hide sinew sewn together and is tacked with pointy brass tacks and a trade seed bead dangle that shows medium red, chalk white, and black coloration with a fringe at the butt of the war lance. The war lance features a iron spear point. he condition of this war lance is preserved with some heavy oxidation to one side of the lance point but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this war lance is 70 1/2" x 2 1/8" x 1 1/8". The collective weight of this war lance is 2lb 6oz. TURKEY FEATHER
