Featured in this lot is this circa 1950's-1970's Arapaho deer hide and rawhide wrapped stone axe. The axe features a wonderfully and professionally crafted stone, rawhide, and deer hide construction. The edge of the stone axe is knapped to create the edge and is connected with a split head and is attached with rawhide strips and shows the haft wrapped with strips of rawhide and shows the end wrapped in deer hide with a stripped wooden haft. The piece shows all the typical manufacture techniques of pre-historic early stone head tools. The condition of this stone axe is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this stone ax is 20 5/8" x 5 1/8" x 1 1/2".
