Featured in this lot is this Arapaho Indian, fully beaded top, knife sheath, circa (1900's -). This knife sheath shows an Indian tanned hide construction that is covered in fantastic, 1900's glass trade seed beadwork in geometric patterns consistent with Arapaho tribal decoration. The sheath shows bead work with colors, such as light blue turquoise field with chalk white, white lined rose, dark transparent green, and corn yellow decoration with a central stripe of light blue turquoise, corn yellow, and white lined rose beads. The bottom of the sheath shows beaded tassels. The Arapaho are a tribe of Native Americans historically living on the plains of Colorado and Wyoming. They were close allies of the Cheyenne tribe and loosely aligned with the Lakota and Dakota. The condition of this sheath is good with lovely beadwork and no signs of damage and good display quality. The measurements of the sheath are 10 1/2" x 3".
