Featured in this lot is this Alpaca silver Thunderbird serving spoon from Lakota artist Armand American Horse (1982-). This serving spoon shows a wonderfully decorated serving spoon with stamped decoration and a tooled Thunderbird design to the fork tines. Thunderer (Wakinyan), known in English as the Thunderer or the Thunderbird, is a powerful sky spirit of Sioux Indian legends. Wakinyan has the form of a giant bird, with wings that make the sound of thunder and eyes that shoot lightning. The Sioux Thunderbird is the mortal enemy of the horned serpent, Unktehi. The Armand American Horse hallmark is shown on the underside of the serving fork. The condition of this serving spoon is good, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this serving utensil are 6 7/8" x 1 5/8" x 1/2".
