Offered in this lot is an Asian Fan-Form Paper Watercolor of Two Birds Resting On A Branch, wood framed, artist’s inscription and signature (2 columns in standard script). Folding fan mounted as an album leaf; ink and color on alum paper. Painted in the style of renown Chinese artist, Jin Cheng (1878-1926). Jin Cheng was a Chinese Asian Antiquities artist. Being a painter, collector, teacher and organizer of art-related activities, Jin Cheng was one of the most prominent Chinese artists of the inter-war period. This watercolor depicts two Chinese Rubythroat birds resting on a branch while facing each other, tree leaves are visible to their left. This is a magnificent piece of fan-form art - the use of a Chinese paper fan as the medium for a watercolor. This watercolor is mounted against the backdrop of a white lace pattern cloth, in a speckled silver coloured frame.
