Featured in this lot is “Bank and Train Robbers of the West James Boys, Younger Brothers, Etc." written by Augustus C. Appler. The book was published by the Belford Clarke and Company of Chicago and St. Louis in 1882. Appler was the editor of a Missouri newspaper and collected stories told about the James Boys and other outlaw gangs. This book contains stories on the various outlaws of the time, primarily the James boys, Younger Brothers, and other lesser-known groups. The book is in fair condition for its age, with the first few pages missing and wear on the cover and spine. The piece measures 7 3/4" tall by 5 1/4" wide and 1 3/4" thick.
