Included in this lot is a Belgian Browning semi automatic .22 rifle. This Belgian made Browning was produced by FN Herstal based on a John Browning patent. The semi-automatic .22 is a made from blue'd steel and straight grain walnut, and ejects spent cases downward. The top of the barrel is marked “FABRIQUE NATIONALE D’ARMES DE GUERRE-HERSTAL-BELGIQUE / BROWNING’S PATENT DESPOSE”. The left side of the barrel is marked “.22 LONG RIFLE SMOKELESS” and a Belgian Star over “M” inspection mark, a Lion over “PV” smokeless powder proof, a Crown over “R” rifled barrel proof and the Belgian Crown over Oval E / LG” proof. The underside of the barrel underneath the fore grip is marked the Lion over “PV” proof, the Star over “M” inspection mark and the Belgian ‘Breech’ proof. The front sight fixed blade dovetail set to the barrel and the rear sight is a “V” notch blade dovetailed into the barrel adjustable for elevation. This Fabrique Nationale manufactured Browning .22 Caliber Semi-Auto solid frame rifle is light weight and features an eleven round internal magazine which is loaded through a port on the right side of the butt stock.
