This is an original Benson Yazzie (Navajo, 1947-2001) sterling silver concho belt set with Sleeping Beauty Turquoise. The belt dates to circa 1970's and is a late pawn or vintage pawn piece signed BY Sterling. Benson Yazzie is considered an icon in concho belts with this being a wonderful example. The belt shows an old Third Phase pattern with nice heavy sterling silver construction having old original classic Navajo stampings with a highly worked repousse raised center section of each concho. The belt shows a larger buckle with concho / concha in oval and butterfly or bow tie patterns with a scalloped edge. The back of each has a silver soldered band or loop of copper and is strung on a black leather belt. The belt measures overall 50.5"L. The buckle is 2.75" by 2.25". The oval conchos are 2 1/8" by 1 5/8". The butterfly or bow tie conchos are each 1 3/8" by 1".
