This is an original work of art clay sculpture of a Montana Native American tipi scene by artist Bill Ohrmann (1919-2014). These are hand formed clay or pottery figures, being a original work of art piece. This model display has a wonderfully and professionally crafted construction that features a Native warrior watchman at his post with a peace pipe in his hand, a spear leaning up against him, and a war club next to him. The poles behind him are adorned with his quiver of arrows and shows a painted shield hanging on the limbs. Ohrmann was a Montana rancher all of his life. He was born on a ranch outside of Philipsburg, MT in 1919, and lived in the Philipsburg and Ovando areas before his family moved to their present ranch south of Drummond, MT in 1934. Living on and working the ranches gave him an appreciation for nature and a love of animals. Bill passed away in 2014 at his home in Drummond MT. Bill dabbled in many artists' mediums from bronze, to paint, to large steel sculptures. Some of his larger welded pieces can be found in Couer d’Alene, ID, Georgetown Lake and his home city of Philipsburg, MT. Mr. Ohrmann’s paintings were chosen by The Montana Arts Council, where they selected 40 of his paintings for a two year, ten gallery show across the state of Montana. A few gallery shows include the Hockaday Center in Kalispell to the Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings. The show was titled “How We Live”. The overall condition of this sculpture model is good with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this sculpture model are 13 3/4" x 15 3/4" x 15 3/4".*
