Featured in this lot is a forged high carbon Viking style battle axe made by Bjorn Ironside Forge located in Sweden. The forge is named after Bjorn Ironside, a Norse Viking chief and King of Sweden during the 9th century. King Bjorn Ironside was the son of legendary Viking king Ragnar Lothbrok and appears in Norse legends. This Viking style hand axe displays a wide axe head with machined grooves across the sides. The head is constructed from G10600 carbon steel and 52100 ball bearing steel. The left side of the blade is marked "Bjorn Ironside Forge Made In Sweden". The oak haft of the axe features a dark brown exterior with a decorative copper plate in the front. The piece shows a slightly curved handle with a leather wrapped grip. The axe displays wonderful condition and an excellent design. The piece comes with a custom leather cover. The axe measures 20 3/4" long overall, with the head measuring 6 1/2" long with a 4 3/4" cutting edge.
