Featured in this lot is a forged high carbon Viking style etched bearded axe made by Bjorn Ironside Forge located in Sweden. The forge is named after Bjorn Ironside, a Norse Viking chief and King of Sweden during the 9th century. King Bjorn Ironside is the son of legendary Viking king Ragnar Lothbrok and appears in Norse legends. This Viking style bearded axe displays a bearded axe head with etched Viking rune designs and Celtic knot patterns. The head is constructed from G10600 carbon steel and 52100 ball bearing steel. The left side of the blade is marked "Bjorn Ironside Forge Made In Sweden". The haft of the axe features carved celtic knot and leaf designs with a bear head carved into the base. The axe displays wonderful condition with an excellent design. The piece comes with a custom leather cover. The axe measures 23 1/2" long overall with the head measuring 8" long with a 6" cutting edge.
