Featured in this lot is a forged high carbon Viking style battle axe made by Bjorn Ironside Forge located in Sweden. The forge is named after Bjorn Ironside, a Norse Viking chief and King of Sweden during the 9th century. King Bjorn Ironside is the son of legendary Viking king Ragnar Lothbrok and appears in Norse legends. This Viking style axe displays a wide axe head with machined grooves across the sides of the head. The head is constructed from G10600 carbon steel and 52100 ball bearing steel with a polished edge. The left side of the blade is marked "Bjorn Ironside Forge Made In Sweden". The oak haft of the axe displays a warm stained exterior with leather straps on the top of the shaft and a black leather grip. The axe displays wonderful condition and an excellent design. The piece comes with a custom leather cover. The axe measures 22 1/4" long and the axe head measures 6 1/2" long with a cutting edge of 4 1/2".
