The lot features an original hand carved folk-art wood sculpture showing a Black Americana cowboy riding a bucking bronco and dating to the 19th Century. The piece shows a solid walnut construction and is all hand carved. The piece comes from a long time western collector in Colorado who purchased the piece from Brian Lebel’s Old West Auction many years ago. The piece shows wonderful detail showing a cowboy wearing wooly chaps on a bucking bronco horse in mid-leap. The cowboy appears to be of African American Descent making this an excellent Black Americana piece. The carving is marked on the haunches "H R".
