The lot features a mid-20th Century beaded set of gauntlet gloves from the Blackfeet (Blackfoot) Native American Indians of Montana. The gloves are from the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Browning, Montana just outside of Glacier National Park. The gloves show an Indian tanned hide construction with stiff gauntlet cuff having a spotted calico trade clothe lining. The gloves are adorned with glass trade seed beads in a geometric pattern using beautiful opaque and translucent beads such as semi-transparent pink, sky padre blue, opaque, red, dark red, black, and cut blue. The gloves show a five inch long hand cut fringe on the outside edge of each glove, a wonderful artful addition. The gloves show the appropriate wear from age and use indicative of its circa 1950's age. Each glove measures 13.25"L x 7.5"W (without the fringe).
