For sale in this lot is an exceptional Blackfoot Native American Indian beaded buckskin dress. The dress shows a two piece construction, sewn together underneath the bust, and accented with cross-hatched hide. The dress flows elegantly, and is secured around the waist with a buckskin sash. The belt shows long cut hide fringe, each tassel is accentuated by a transparent green white-heart pony trade bead. Matching the design elements of the belt, the dress has long cut hide fringe drops in six rows down the length of the dress. Each fringe drop, as well as the bottom edge, and the sleeves of the dress are decorated with the same transparent green white heart pony trade beads, and long cut hide fringe. The neck, and shoulders of the dress show full coverage with trade seed beads, in a geometric motif. The seed beads include; green, chalk white, greasy yellow, semi-transparent red, and dark blue. This tediously crafted piece originates from prominent Native American Collector - Ken "Walks In Winter", associated with the Rising Wolf Traders, on the Blackfoot Reservation. Overall, the dress shows very good condition, with no apparent bead loss, and supple texture to the hide. The dress is approximately a woman's large, and measures 41" long from the shoulder seam, to the bottom of the dress, 21 1/2" across the chest, under each armpit, and 34 1/2" wide from the tips of each sleeve. The measurements are taken without the additional length of fringe.
