Available for your purchasing and viewing pleasure is this wonderful pipe tomahawk collected from the Blackfoot Native American Indians in Western Montana and dating to circa 1880. The war club tomahawk features a exceptional hand-forged iron head and blade crafted from the remnants of old firearm rifle barrels, the rifling is still visible inside the pipe bowl. The forge seams are visible on both sides of the blade and the piece shows a truly fine high-quality craftsmanship. The head exhibits a fine rich deep patina evenly over the entire surface. The original haft is constructed from carved hard wood and is adorned with solid brass square shank trade tacks designs and two Turkey feathers that replaced the original two Golden Eagle feathers that were removed from the piece due to Federal restrictions. The entire surface of the wood shows various blacksmith rasp file burns with a nice deep patina. Provenance: From the former collections of Tom Hard and Ted & Lilly Jarvis. The tomahawk measures 17" long without the length of feather drops, 7 3/8" wide, and 1 3/8" thick.
