The lot features an excellent, original Blackfoot Native American Indian, tipi backrest seat dating to the early 1900’s. The top shows a horseshoe shaped Indian tanned hide section with glass trade seed beadwork of red orange and chalk white, all being of an original age, backed with tent canvas remnants. (Also referred to as Blackfeet and Tepee, Tipi, and Teepee). The piece is constructed of stripped willow, which is banded together with a red shroud trade cloth edge. The top shows an Indian tanned Moose hide strap, which would have been slung over the willow branch frame to hold the seat up. The circa early 1900 piece is from Northwestern Montana at the Blackfeet Indian Reservation near Glacier National Park and Browning, Montana. Provenance: From a very large Cowboy Western collection in Dayton, Wyoming. Measures 27”W by 50”L.
