Featured in this lot is this Blanc De Chine porcelain sculpture from the early 20th century. Blanc de Chine, meaning "white from China" in French, refers to a style of white porcelain originating from Dehua, Fujian province, China. It's known for its distinctive ivory-like or milk-white glaze and is particularly famous for its ceramic sculptures of Buddhist and Taoist figures, especially Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy. This sculpture shows a man holding a scroll as he stands near some water. The water is shown as "S" shaped spirals in front of the man, but does not continue behind him. The sculpture sits on a carved, wood base and is marked under a screw reading, "China". The sculpture shows good condition overall with slight wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. It measures 3 1/4" L x 3 3/8" W x 7 5/8" H and weighs 12 ounces.
