For your consideration is this Vintage Blue & White Chinoiserie Porcelain Foot Bath Basin with Double Handles. The scene depicted is that of a large house, possibly a palace surrounded by flora and trees of all types, with mountain ranges in the background while flocks of birds fly overhead. The rim has a continuous flower and vine design. Chinoiserie was once the most coveted fashion of the aristocracy. During the 17th and 18th centuries, Europeans became fascinated with Asian cultures and traditions. They loved to imitate or evoke Asian motifs in Western art, architecture, landscaping, furniture, and fashion. Truly a piece of art that evokes a much simpler and peaceful way of life. The Chinoiserie foot bath is in good overall condition, crazing is visible throughout the enamel finish, no other obvious marring noted. Measures 8"W x 16"L x 6"H approximately.
