Hannibal Hamlin Garland (1860-1940) was an American novelist, short story writer, poet, psychical researcher, and essayist. Garland is known for his collection of western short stories. The book contains numerous Native American short stories and tales. Hard-to-find classic collection of stories about the Plains Indians by an author who knew them well, beautifully illustrated by Frederic Remington. 35 engraved plate illustrations including a colour frontispiece by Remington; a combination of black and white and fully coloured pieces.
Original embossed and illustrated brown paper over boards cover with gold gilt black paper spine wrap, cover and edges are scuffed, spine shows slight tearing. Foxing noted throughout. Good overall condition measuring 9.25"W x 12.5"L x 1.5"D approximately.
