For your consideration in this lot is a second edition copy of "Border Boy and How He Became the Great Pioneer of the West A Life of Daniel Boone" by W. H. Bogart. The book was printed in 1885 by Lee and Shepard, Publishers and copyrighted in 1884. William Henry Bogart (1810- 1888) was a New York lawyer, journalist, author, and historian. He is best known for "Daniel Boone and The Hunters of Kentucky", which he wrote to try and preserve the history of Boone rather than let it be lost to folk stories. This book focuses on Boone’s early life, exploration, and military career throughout his life. The book, much like “The Hunters of Kentucky”, tries to preserve the history of Boone rather than promote the exaggerated folk stories. The piece features numerous illustrations depicting Boone in his adventures. The book displays a dark blue and gilt gold cover with pressed black designs. The piece shows good condition overall, with some light wear on the cover of the spine. The book measures 7" tall by 5 1/4" wide and 1" thick.
