Featured in this lot is this Bowie, Arizona Territory Wells Fargo & Co. brass lock circa 1880's and was displayed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The lock features a wonderfully and professionally crafted brass construction that was found in 200 by Wayne Barrett and displayed at the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum since 2001. The brass lock is marked as follows: W.F. & Co. The lock comes complete with an original museum letter that reads as follows: This small brass lock stamped "W F & Co." was found near Bowie, AZ by Wayne Barrett in 2000. The town of Bowie lies doen the mountain from Fort Bowie which was a fort in the 1880's. It was responsible for keeping the peace int he region while the Apaches were rampaging the area. Bowie was a stop over for many travelers, including the Cowboys. We have had this brass lock on display in our museum since we opened it in 2001. The condition of this Wells Fargo & Co. brass lock is well preserved with some slight patina adorning the lock but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this brass lock is 2 3/8" x 1 3/4" x 3/8". The collective weight of this brass lock is 89.9g. EX63
