Featured in this lot are three pairs of British & American made sterling plated candle sticks circa late 1700s to mid 1900s. The first pair was a collaboration between William Law (active 1770-1780) and John Lloyd (active 1760-1780) of Dublin, Ireland. The bottoms are weighted and each shows a reed bamboo style stem and a removable top piece to clean excess wax after a candle has burned. The pair is marked on the bottom reading, "JL LAW JL". The second pair in this lot were made in Brooklyn, New York by the Empire Silver Company circa 1940-70s. Sterling weighted means
that there is plaster type material in the base to keep them from tipping over when lit with candles. They show a sleek and simple design and are marked on the bottom reading, "Empire Sterling Weighted". The final pair of candle sticks are unmarked but show a sterling plate construction. They show intricate designs throughout and feature a removable top piece to clean melted wax after burning candles. The candle sticks show good condition overall with wear and light patinas present from their age and use over the years, but no signs of major damage is noted. The candle sticks measure from 5 1/8" L x 5 1/8" W x 14" H to 3 14/16" in diameter and 4 1/4" in height. They have a collective weight of 7 pounds and 10 ounces.
