Featured in this lot we have a British pattern 1907 sword bayonet and sheath fitted for Lee-Enfield No. I Mk. III rifle. The Lee-Enfield is a bolt action magazine fed rifle chambered in .303 that was used in World War I. The bayonet depicts a long straight sword barrel, attachment guard, wood grips, and attachment pommel. The blade shows a fuller groove across both sides of the blade with a single cutting edge. The base of the blade is marked with faded manufacture and inspection stamps. The grip shows hard wood scales across the sides and functional attachment points on the pommel and back of the guard. The bayonet comes with a leather and metal sheath with canvas belt strap and the sheath marked across the back reading "Mangrovite '44". The piece shows good condition overall with light wear due to age and use. The bayonet measures 21 1/2" long with the blade being 16 1/2" long.
