Featured in this lot we have a U.S. Ordnance Browning Model M1919 A4/A6 semi automatic belt fed medium machine gun chambered in .30-06 package collection including the original crate, large ammo collection, belts, belt feeder, etc. The M1919 was developed and manufactured by Browning from 1919 to 1945 and is a later iteration of the M1917 model. The M1919 moved away from the M1917s water cooling system to an air cooled system along with other changed to make it lighter. The M1919 A4 model features a low slung infantry tripod with the forward mounting point allowed it to also easily be attached to jeeps, armored cars, tanks, landing craft, and many others allowing it to be deployed across the battle field. The M1919 A6 version shows a slightly lighter barrel, attached bipod, and attachable butt stock allowing it to be carried and operated by a crew of four rather than the five needed for the A4. The M1919 saw use and deployment during World War II and the Korean War, with it being the second most common armament for vehicles on the Allied forces. This M1919 features both the tripod mounts and tripod for the model A4 along with the bipod and attachable butt stock used in the A6. The gun also displays its closed bolt design, pistol grip, wood grip carry handle, 24" long barrel, M7 Flash hider, and adjustable iron sights. The machine gun comes with four cloth belts, aluminum manual belt loader, wooden supply crate, and 22 boxes of metal links for a "disintegrating" belt. The gun is marked across the right side reading "U.S. SEMIAUTOMATIC MODEL OF 1919-84 CALIBER .30M2 MATHEWSON TOOL CO. No, BOHOLST" with the underside of the gun marked with its serial number "D8259-13 and a secondary number B-147299. Mechanically the machine gun shows good operation with smooth action, working belt feeder system, and good trigger. This machine gun displays wonderful condition for its age with only some light wear due to age and use. The wooden supply crate is marked with paper tags reading "CASE CARTRIDGE M14 W/CHG DUALGRAN W/ PRIMER M28B2 F/ 105MM WT 52 LOADED 9-68 CU 2 LOT LS-DZ-1471" and is in good condition overall with some light wear due to age. The gun itself weighs 37 lbs 4oz with the bipod, the tripod weighs 16oz 2oz, and the crate weighs 51lbs 10oz. Serial Number: D8259-13.
