The Western American adventurer worked on cattle ranches, as a guide, fought off Indian attacks and eventually had his own traveling 'Wild West Show.' Illustrated throughout with drawings by the author, C. Richard Schaare. This work written for a younger reader. "Moccasin Trail he Story of a Boy Who Took The Trail With Kit Carson", by Reed Fulton, 1931, Junior Books, publisher Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc, is a story of Kit Carson and a boy who rode with him. The Moccasin Trail leading west from St. Louis to Santa Fe is the setting for vivid and thrilling adventures in this story of frontier days, and of Kit Carson who helped to make history on that trail. Both of these books were written when the American West was being introduced to wider audiences by radio shows and silent movies. Dime novels of the Old West were very popular with young readers. The gradual transition from silent films to "talkies" (sound cinema) took place between 1926 and 1930 further glamorizing the Western lifestyle. Both books are in good overall condition, scuffing and staining observed on covers and edges. Intact page exhibit age tanning, foxing a slight tears.
