In this lot we have Buffalo Bill Lewis & Clark ten dollar bill. This is a trompe l'oeil oil painting signed by Ostman. Trompe l'oeil is french for "deceive the eye", the painting is meant to fool the viewer into thinking it is a real object instead of a painting. This painting is a painting of an actual ten dollar bill produced between 1901-1915. The background of this painting is brown as if it was on a table. On each side of the bill there are portraits of Meriwether Lewis on the left side and William Clark on the right side. In the middle there is an American bison which people called black diamond. The visible artwork measures 9 3/4" x 6 3/4" with the framing measuring 12 1/2" x 9 3/4."
