Available in this lot for your consideration is an original Burt Glinn, Time Life Magazine photograph of the interior of Charles M. Russell's cabin. The photo was part of a Time Life series, which came about as Montana locals were fundraising to keep original Charles M. Russell works in Montana. A November 1952 issue of Life Magazine states "At first he (Charles Russell) gave his sketches away, but in the long winters when he was out of a job and money, he learned to trade his art for food and supplies. his steadiest patron was the owner of the Mint saloon. In exchange for a drawing, Russell could get a drink of whiskey. For an oil, he was rewarded with a full quart.". When a Texas oil magnate purchased the collection for $300,000, Montanan's realized they had taken for granted the fact that they had a strong hold on the only collection which could rival the renowned Frederic Remington's works. The photograph was gifted to John R. Quigley the creator, and owner of Frontier Town of Helena, Montana directly by Glinn. Quigley was the late father of the consigner, and it is said that "he (Glinn) and my wild Irish dad had a good time while Glinn was at Frontier Town on assignment" - Attributing reason why Glinn gifted the un-used photos. Overall, the photograph shows good condition, showing excellent composition, and fantastic print quality, and shows numerous stamps on the reverse side, stating capture by Burt Glinn, and ownership by Time Life Magazine. The photograph is preservation shrink wrapped to acid-free mat board. The photograph itself measures 7 1/2" x 9 1/2".
