This is volumes I and II of "Butterfield Overland Mail" written by Roscoe and Margaret Conkling and published in 1947. The Butterfield Overland Mail Trail was a stagecoach service from 1857-1961. The service had two eastern terminals in Memphis and St. Louis with routes to San Francisco. Before the days of the Transcontinental Railroad, the stagecoach provided a valuable service to connect the eastern and western United States. These book offer a wonderful historical read and show good overall condition. Each volume measures 6.5" x 9.5".
