This is an original, signed abstract oil painting by Nigerian artist, Buyo Ogundele, titled "Hunters in the reserve forest" dated 1970. Buyo Ogundele was born in Nigeria in 1949. The younger brother of Rufus Ogundele. He is also an acclaimed oil painter. While his elder brother depicts a world of chaotic spirituality, Bayo's works are bright and colorful with impressive use of gradation technique. He learned and polished his skills under Solomon Irein Wangboje, a graphic designer who studied in the United States, in his student year at Ife University. He has done numerous exhibitions in the UK, United States, and various countries in Europe. This work is signed along the bottom center and shows vivid colors with traditional Nigerian artistic imagery in a bold abstract design, dated 1970. The oil is done on board and shows some slight chipping. It is set in a custom wood frame. The back is marked, "Hunters in the Reserve Forest by Buyo Ogundele 1970". The piece shows good to fair condition with paint chipping present. The artwork measures 24" L x 24" W and the frame measures 24 7/8" L x 25" W. The piece weighs 5 pounds and 14 ounces.
