This lot presents a wonderful Queen Anne 18th-19th C. mahogany tilt-top tea table sitting atop out-swept tripartite 1755 cabriole style carved base and legs, with ball and claw feet. Elaborately shaped top with carved fretwork frieze edge. Marquetry designed top, has an early latch on the underside - flip the latch, and the table top pivots. The table is an exceptional example of early American styling. Queen Anne furniture is somewhat smaller, lighter, and more comfortable than its predecessors, and examples in common use include curving shapes, the cabriole leg among other features. Other elements include pad feet and an emphasis on line and form rather than ornament. The style of Queen Anne's reign is sometimes described as late Baroque rather than "Queen Anne"..
The table is in very good condition, top finish exhibits crazing, fretwork raised lip has minor scratches, no additional marring noted to the table, measurement 29.25" diameter, 27.5"H
