This is an exceptional and historic set of silver ball and cone earrings from the Arapaho (Inunaina, Hinono'ei) dating to circa 1800-1850, from the Sundog Bruce VanLandingham collection. Authentic examples such as this are exceedingly rare with almost all examples being in museum collections. The set shows a silver material with loop top with ball strung on and cone dangling, one having an additional ball. The danglers are wider and have a round bottom. For examples see several examples in the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian record NMAI_260344 1840 examples, E200915-1 and E200883-0 both 1800's Arapaho. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery. The silver material has a green patina and one of the cones has broken from the loop. Each is 1.5"L.
