Offered in this lot is a cira 1880 painting on canvas of an Elk in an impressive large hand carved frame. This Elk painting is not signed. The frame is a hand carved heavy with white, green, and natural wood showing. The art showing in 19" x 22 1/2", the frame measures 31" x 38". The frame shows heavy reinforced construction on the back. The canvas is on a wood frame that has brackets that can be adjusted to tighten the frame as it stretches. The brackets are dated 1883 and 1885. The canvas has a patch on the back where a tear was repaired. Their is light damage to the painting and the frame. Overall this painting shows great character.
