Featured in this lot is a collection of 14 1889-1890 Duke's Cigarettes collectors cards from various collections such as: "Postage Stamps", "Coins of all Nations", "Portraits of Our Leading Actors & Actresses", "Ocean & River Steamers" and "The Terrors of America and Their Doings". Between 1875 and the 1940s, cigarette companies often included collectible trading cards with their packages of cigarettes. Cigarette card sets document popular culture from the turn of the century, often depicting the period’s actresses, costumes, and sports, as well as offering fascinating insights into mainstream American humor and cultural norms. The cards are all in good condition with some wear and scuffing from their use and vintage age. Only one card is completely bent at the bottom. The cards measure 2 3/4" L x 1 1/2" W.
