Featured in this lot is this hand painted cast iron "Artillery Bank" by J.E. Stevens circa 1892. The bank features a wonderfully and professionally crafted cast iron and hand painted construction that shows a Union officer standing beside a Howitzer cannon aimed at a tower; the action of inserting a coin includes the cannon hammer is cocked back and the basin can be loaded with a coin with the trigger on the model to the right and is fired into the bank. The plug on the bottom of the bank is missing but the action works as intended. The outside of the bank is marked as folows: Artillery Bank. The condition of this cast iron bank is preserved with some wear to the paint and show some under oxidation to the cast iron due to age and exposure but otherwise shows a preserved overall condition. The measurements of this cast iron bank is 5" x 3 1/2" x 6 1/2". The collective weight of this cast iron bank is 4lb 12oz.
