For your consideration this lot contains an Original pack of Montana and Yellowstone Souvenir Cards playing cards Published by The Photo Card Co., Butte, Montana, circa 1898. A complete 52 card deck with Joker, a card-sized map of Montana, and an information card of the principal towns and resources of Montana. The face of each playing card features a different photograph of Montana landmarks, mining scenes in Butte and Anaconda, and of Yellowstone National Park. The back of each one displays the image of miners working with pick across the bottom and a figure working a crank on the top with a medallion of the Great Seal of the State of Montana at the center.
The cards are in amazingly good condition, age tanning and foxing noted. The red double case is in good overall condtion, with the interior case missing the closure tab an slight splitting along a vertical sseam, the exterior case has edge scuffing, the remnant of of the original tax seal is on the lower front face, a nine of hearts depicting the Lower Falls of Yellowstone National Park is on the rear face. Measures 2.75"W x 3.5"L approximately.
