The lot features a set of beaded leggings from the Chippewa Indians dating to the early 1900’s. The set is considered dance leggings and is comprised of old trade clothe dark blue wool stroud with two long strips of beautifully floral beaded design, one on either leg. The leggings are trimmed in a trade clothe muslin and appear to be cotton thread sewn. The beadwork is done in glass trade pony beads in a chalk white and red coloring. These are a nice size and are likely a men’s pair of leggings and have two sewn in loops on the inside for lacing a belt through. Good overall condition with some discoloration to the hide piping and little to no bead loss, measure each 34.5”L. From the ex-collection of Tom Hardy Indianapolis, Indiana.
