For your consideration is an Oil on Hide of "Indian Maiden", by Raphael Beck, circa 1906-1910. This hand painted oil painting features a wonderfully and professionally crafted leather hide construction displaying a portrait-style depiction of a Native American woman, shown with feathers tucked into her black hair and wearing a feathered necklace with decorative beads. The "Indian Maiden" painting by Raphael Beck (1858–1947) is a notable piece of early 20th-century commercial art, best known for its long association with the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company. This particular rendition from Beck was used in advertising for "Deering binder twine", a specialized, high-quality agricultural twine produced by the William Deering Company (later International Harvester) for grain binders in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The painting on hide is in in nicely preserved condition, creases noted throughout from being rolled and age. The piece is not signed. Measures 26"W x 32"L, weight is 1lb.
