Featured in this lot is this 1925 Model No. 11 Aladdin kerosene lamp made by the Mantle Lamp Company of America in Chicago U.S.A.. Victor Johnson founded the Mantle Lamp Company of America in Chicago in 1908 and imported the Practicus incandescent burner from Germany. He obtained the Aladdin trademark in 1908 and sold the first model of the American-made Aladdin lamp in 1909. In 1926 Johnson bought the Lippincott Glass factory in Alexandria, Indiana to make glass lamps, chimneys and shades, changing the name to Aladdin Industries. The lamp shows a nice brass construction and wide base. The middle section of the lamp features a screw cap for easy filling of kerosene and the wick directly above it. On the adjustment wheel it reads, "The Mantle Lamp Company of America, Model No. 11 Aladdin, Made In U.S.A. Chicago". The lamp comes with a white colored glass shade and a clear glass chimney, both in good condition. Overall the kerosene lamp is in good condition with no signs of obvious damage. The brass shows a nice patina from its age, and the glass shade and chimney are in perfect condition with no cracks or chips. The lamp measures 6 1/4" diameter at the base and 12" tall with out the lamp shade or chimney. The chimney measures 12" tall on its own and an 11 1/2" outside circumference at its widest point. The glass lamp shade measures 5 1/2" tall and a diameter of 9 1/4". The entire lamp measures 23" tall.
