Featured in this lot is this Santo Domingo Pueblo polychrome wedding pot, circa 1930-1950. The wedding pot features a beautiful polychrome design of geometric patterns with off white, black, and natural red clay coloration and features design consistent with the age of the vessel. Santo Domingo pottery can be distinguished by its buff colored clay, cream slip, and dark black geometric designs. The elastic clay at Santo Domingo lends itself to large forms, such as storage jars, dough bowls, and large ollas. The designs are geometric in nature, showing particular attention to the negative spaces. The condition of this wedding pottery vessel is good, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this wedding pottery vessel are 5 1/4" x 3 1/2" x 3".
