The lot features a finely handmade carved and tooled leather parade saddle with sterling silver parade adornment attributed by a previous expert as being from Keyston Bros San Francisco, California; from a large parade saddle and cowboy collection out of Idaho. The Keyston Bros sterling silver plate that was present on the back of the saddle was noted as being inscribed and removed by a previous owner. Featured in this lot is this pleasure-show western saddle attributed to Bona Allen circa 1970's. The Bona Allen Company manufactured saddles from 1873 to 1981. Over this 108-year span in Buford, Georgia, the tannery grew from a one-man operation to the nation's largest producer of hand-tooled saddles and leather goods. The saddle features a wonderfully and professionally crafted heavy tooled and carved leather construction that shows floral carving decoration and tapaderos with one side floral and the other side basket woven. This is an intricately crafted pleasure-show saddle and has a spot where the makers mark was either removed or the name of the owner of this custom piece was removed on the back of the seat. This saddles comes with a matching sterling silver rosette mounted breast collar. The saddle and martingale both show hand engraved silver and sterling silver with truly fine craftsmanship. The saddle mark cannot be seen, but previously was identified as Keyston Bros. An expert looked over this saddle along with a Visalia and Ted Flower’s example and found this to be, by far the most valuable and collectible. The condition of this pleasure-show saddle is well preserved with some slight wear to the tooled leather and the tapaderos but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The overall measurements of this saddle is 47" x 28 1/4" x 17 1/2". While looking closely at other examples this is in the exact pattern and high craftsmanship of other Keyston Bros's examples.
