This is an original circa 1935-1945 Japanese Arisaka Type 99 made in Toyo Kogyo in a 35th Series and chambered in 7.7mm caliber. The 35th Series from Toyo Kogyo had less than 57,000 rifle produced and features a very deep red finish on the three piece stock, fixed rear sight, pin front band welded front sight. The top of the barrel shows the Chrysanthemum being partially ground. On the left side of the receiver show the Japanese kana mark for Series 35, serial number of 87387 and then the arsenal mark for Toyo Kogyo dating the rifle to 1935-1945. According to records only 57,000 of these Type 99 35th Series Toyo Kogyo rifles were produced with most being destroyed and very few in this well preserved of condition. The bottom of the bolt and under the bolt arm are both marked 387, being an original matching serial number firearm. Hiroshima Prefecture. Included is an original Japanese Mukden Arsenal (Manchuria) bayonet and sheath. The bayonet shwos a stright quillon with curved grip pommel and shiny dark blue blade with black finished quillon, grip and wood also with black painted sheath. The bottom of the bayonet is marked with marks and 73825 an upside down crescent and chop marks. The bottom of the stock has a wood butte. The rifle appears to function.
