The lot features a circa 1966 Acatlan Puebla Mexican Church clay sculpture of nice large size. The piece was collected by Virgil and Barbara Magerfleisch in circa 1966 from Acatlan Puebla and Tamazunable. The piece features a clay pottery church architectural sculpture showing a traditional Mexican Catholic church and is likely a representation of Parroquia De San Juan Bautista Acatlan Acatlan de Osoria, Pueblo. The sculpture has two bell towers with each having eight windows with steeple showing four corners and sides flowing into rounded dome top which each bear a metal spike holding a Maltese like cross. In between the towers is a traditional dome holding an additional cross on metal wire insert which sit behind the gran door opening. The piece is in a natural clay coloring with red painted features and incised carved details. Overall no major damage is seen with some chipping and drying cracks from when fired at the front and side but in solid condition. Measures overall 15.25”H by 8”W by 6”D.
