For your consideration offered in this lot is a pair of Oaxa, Mexico pottery candle holders. These two candle holders are in the shape of winged angels holding bowls in which the candle sits. The angels are painted in polychrome cream, red and brown. Provenance: From the collection of Barbara P. Magerfleisch, these were collected in 1966 in Oaxa, Mexico from a church and are being offered directly from the family estate. The candle holders have no artist signature as signing work done for "The Church" would be considered praising oneself over the Lord. Regular use items for churches are also had to find as they would be simply replaced when they became used, old, or broken. The candle holders stand 6" tall and are 3 3/4" x 3 1/2" deep and wide. The bowls for holding the candles have a 7/8" opening. A wing on one angle shows signs of repair. The angels are in good to fair condition with light signs of use and wear.
