Featured in this lot is this framed print by C. M. Russell titled, "Invocation to the Sun" made in 1922. Charles Marion Russell (March 19, 1864 – October 24, 1926), also known as C. M. Russell, Charlie Russell, and "Kid" Russell, was an artist of the Old American West. Russell created more than 2,000 paintings of cowboys, Indians, and landscapes set in the Western United States and in Alberta, Canada, in addition to bronze sculptures. Known as 'the cowboy artist', Russell was also a storyteller and author. The print depicts a group of Native American men on horse back on top of a hill. One of the men has dismounted from his horse and has both his hands raised towards the sun. The other two men watch intently as they hold their spears. The print is set behind glass, sits in a wooden frame and is double matted. The lower left of the print is signed and dated reading, "To Jannette Kanst, From C. M. Russell 1922". Overall the print and frame show good condition with no signs of damage present. The print measures 11" L x 15 5/8" W. The entire piece measures 17 7/8" L x 22 1/2" W.
