Featured in this lot is this Dutch map of Gaul in the time of Julius Claudius Civilis and is titled "Landkaart van't Aude Gallie ten tyde van Julius Claudius Civilis Gallie veteris typus Avo Julii Claudii Civilis. This map can be found in the book 1734 Historie der Keyzeren, Koningen, Hertogen en Graaven; welken, federt de komst der batavieren in bet thans genaamde" by Gerard van Loon. The 1734 work "Historie der Keyzeren van het Roomsche Rijk..." by Gerard van Loon is a richly illustrated historical chronicle of the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire, written in Dutch. Van Loon, a noted historian and numismatist, combined detailed biographies of the emperors with engravings of medals and coins associated with their reigns, offering a visual and textual record of imperial power and iconography. The book reflects Enlightenment-era interests in classical antiquity, political lineage, and the symbolic language of authority, making it both a scholarly resource and a collector’s item for those interested in European history and numismatics. The condition of this Dutch map is well preserved with some wrinkling to the edge of the map and browning to the map consistent with age but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this map is 16 3/4" x 20 3/4". The collective weight of this map is U4oz.
