Featured in this lot is this Spanish Colonial rattlesnake hand forged bit circa 1820's. This 19th century bit features a wonderfully and professionally crafted hand forged iron and brass construction that shows a forged curb bit with triple ring cricket that shows cylindrical sheaths of brass with hand forged rattle snake design shanks that shows some silver mounting and pewter plates on the sides of the shank. The condition of this Spanish Colonial bit is well preserved with oxidation to the bit consistent with the age and use of the bit with some slight patina but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this bit is 5 3/8" x 4 3/4" x 2 1/8". The collective weight of this bit is 10oz.
