Featured in this lot is this Montana variety barbed wire display circa 1860 to 1880's. This display features a wonderfully and professionally crafted professionally framed display construction and shows original 1880's Montana barbed wire with a variety of styles that include tags explaining that; the frames were all custom made with burl wood panel decoration. The first is called the Billy Diamond Point with a patent of Feb. 11, 1868. The second is called Two Around Two and has a note that reads as follows: Both Barbs around both wires barbs held on by galvanizing. The next is called H. Reynolds "Neck Tie". The next in the display H.B. Scutts wooden block original red paint patent Feb. 10 1880. The next in the display is a Charles D Rogers Type 1 and is flattened between barbs round at barbs with a patent of Jan. 10 1880. Next in the display is a T.V. Al is Buckthorn that is cast iron- scaree and patented July 26, 1881. The next is an H.B. Scutts 2 point "Reverse Twist Barb" Patented Sept 21, 1880. The next is a Merrills "Twirl" caled holdfast patented Dec. 26, 1876. The next is T.V. All is Buckthorn patented 1881. The second to last is called Scutts MW Wire Patented 1878. The last is D Nelson Barb patented Dec 13, 1876. The condition of this barbed wire display is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage to the display and shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this barbed wire display is 60 3/8" x 37 3/8". The collective weight of this display is 39lb 10oz.
