The lot features a fabulous set of circa 1870-1880 Cheyenne beaded Buffalo hide leggings. The set is comprised of thick Indian tanned Buffalo / Bison hide with sinew sewing, trade muslin / canvas clothe tops and are covered in classic geometric beadwork. The beadwork is in classic Cheyenne Plains pattern all being sinew sewn showing old 1800's glass trade seed cen beads with a background of chalk white and snake, cross, diamond, river patterns with rare colors of greasy green, red white heart, cobalt, greasy yellow and greasy pea green in petite. The original Indian tanned hide ties are till present. The bottom edge shows some slight beads loss which nicely shows the sinew threads, a true testament to their early circa 1870-1880 age. These display beautifully and are truly an amazing set with fine detail. Each measures as they lay 11.5-inches by 5.75-inches.
